How do I scan a whole site?

Press Scan a site in the header, sign in, choose Whole site and enter your domain. We read a sample of up to 50 pages, each one a full page scan, and email you when the site report is ready. You don’t have to keep the page open.

  1. Sign in

A site scan runs in the background for minutes, so it needs an account to deliver the result to. Signed out, the Scan your whole site page offers Create a free account and Sign in. A single page never needs one.

  2. Choose Whole site and enter your site

Under What to scan, choose Whole site. (Single page takes you to an ordinary page scan instead.) Then fill in the box labelled Domain, sitemap URL, or a list of pages.

Give us your domain and we find your sitemap, or give us the sitemap’s address. Either way we choose up to 50 pages that cover each kind of page your site has. Or paste up to 2,000 page addresses, one per line or separated by commas, and we read the first 50 in your order. Everything has to be on one site. Then press Scan my site.

  3. Wait, or leave it running

The panel says “Finding your pages…” while we read your sitemap, then “Scanning” with a count of pages and a bar. You don’t have to wait there: we email you when it’s done, and the result is at its own link whether the page is open or not. When it finishes, the panel says “The scan has finished.” with a See the results link.

  4. Read the site report

The site report opens with one score for the site, then the findings and every page we read, each with its own full report. How do I read a site scan report?, under More help below, walks through it from the top.

  5. Find it again, and pin the pages that matter

Your sites, in the header once you’re signed in, lists every site you’ve scanned. Open one to see its score over time and Every scan of that site.

To have a page read in every run, type it into Page to pin on that site’s page and press Pin page. A pinned page is scanned on top of the sample and counts toward the site score; a site holds up to 25. Unpin takes it out from the next run.
