Terms of Use

Last updated: 20 August 2026

These terms apply to Bot Appétit at scan.milkmoonstudio.com, operated byMilk Moon Studio (Pty) Ltd (“we”, “us”). By using it, you agree to them. If you don’t, please don’t use it.

What Bot Appétit is

Bot Appétit is a free tool. You give it a web address; it fetches that page the way a search engine or AI crawler would, runs a set of automated checks, and shows you a score and a list of findings. It is an automated opinion, not an audit. It reads one page at a time.

What you may scan

Only scan a site you own, or one you have permission to test.

This matters more than it might look. When you submit a URL, you are instructing our servers to send requests to someone else’s server. You are responsible for having the right to do that.

Specifically, you agree not to use Bot Appétit:

  • against a site you do not own and have no permission to test;
  • to send repeated or automated requests designed to burden either our service or the site being scanned;
  • to try to reach private, internal, or non-public systems;
  • to work around the limits, checks, or protections we put in place — including the anti-abuse checks and rate limits;
  • for anything unlawful.

We rate-limit and bot-check the service to keep it available for everyone. Trying to defeat those measures is a breach of these terms.

The results come with no warranty

We built the checks carefully and test them continuously against real sites. Even so:

  • the findings are provided “as is”, with no warranty of accuracy, completeness or fitness for any purpose;
  • a passing score is not a guarantee of any ranking, traffic, visibility or AI citation, and we do not promise any commercial outcome;
  • a failing or warning result may be a false positive, and a passing result may miss something;
  • the tool checks one page, not your whole site;
  • some findings depend on third parties (for example Google’s PageSpeed Insights and Safe Browsing) and inherit their availability and their judgement;
  • the decisions you make from these findings are yours. Don’t make an irreversible change to a live site on the strength of an automated score without understanding the change.

What we send to third parties

To produce the results, the URL you submit is sent to third-party services (currently Google PageSpeed Insights and Google Safe Browsing). Don’t submit a URL that is itself confidential — a preview link, a reset link, or an address with a token in it. See ourPrivacy Policy.

What we keep

We keep a record of scans — including the web address scanned and the results we produce — to understand how the tool is used and to improve it. We do this in a way that does not store your IP address. Exactly what we keep, and why, is set out in ourPrivacy Policy.

For a small sample of scans we also keep a copy of the page itself, purely so we can re-run our own checks against a page we have already seen and tell the difference between our scanner changing and a website changing. These copies are never published or shared, and we will delete the copies we hold for your site on request — seeCopies of scanned pages.

Availability

The tool is free, and we make no promise that it will be available, or that it will keep existing. We may change it, limit it, or withdraw it at any time without notice. We may refuse or block use that we reasonably believe breaks these terms.

Accounts

You can run a single-page scan without an account. A multi-page site scan needs one, because it runs for several minutes and we need somewhere to send the result. Accounts are free.

Keep your sign-in details to yourself — you are responsible for what happens under your account. Give us an email address you actually control, do not create an account on someone else’s behalf without their say-so, and do not share one account between people as a way around any limit.

Do not use an account to do at scale what these terms already forbid one page at a time.That means: no scanning sites you have no business scanning, no automating the scanner or scripting it through your account, no working around usage limits, and nothing that degrades the service for anyone else. The rules in “What you may scan” apply to every page a site scan touches, exactly as they do to a single scan.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or that is being used in a way that threatens the service — and we may do it without notice where the problem is ongoing. You can close your account at any time by emailingjakes@milkmoonstudio.com.

Closing an account does not delete scan results. Results were never stored against you: they belong to the address that was scanned, and its history stays public. What goes is your email address, your sign-in details and your list of sites. ThePrivacy Policy sets this out in full.

Our stuff and your stuff

The tool, its wording, its checks and its design are ours. The site you scan is yours (or its owner’s) — we claim nothing over it. You may share your results freely.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for lost profit, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of Bot Appétit or from anything you did or didn’t do because of its findings.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Nothing here affects the rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 where it applies to you.

You indemnify us

If you scan a site you had no right to scan, and that causes a claim against us, you agree to cover us for it — including reasonable legal costs.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do. Continuing to use the tool after a change means you accept it.

Law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction.
