Does my page link enough to the rest of my site?
A page should lead somewhere. Links to your other pages are how a machine that arrives on one page finds the rest of the site, and how it learns which pages belong together. A page that links nowhere on your own site, or disowns most of its links, is a dead end with a door.
What it actually is
Every page has links to other pages on the same site and links out to other sites. Some links carry a nofollow marker, which the HTML standard describes as the author saying they do not endorse what is on the other side. We look at whether the page links into the rest of your site, and at how much of what it links to it has marked that way.
Why it matters
Crawlers and agents explore by following links. Internal links tell them what else you have and how it fits together, which is why a well-linked site gets more of its pages read. A page marking most of its links nofollow tells a machine the opposite story: that the author does not stand behind the places the page sends people, which is an odd thing for a page to say about itself.
What good looks like
Each page links to the related pages on your own site that a reader would want next, in the content as well as the menus. Links to other sites are ordinary links where you stand behind them, and marked only where there is a reason, such as paid or user-submitted links.
Being honest about it
This is a warning at most and a coarse one: we look at the shape of the page's links, not their quality. A short landing page with few links can be a deliberate choice. And we ignore links that only jump within the same page, so a page whose only links are "skip to content" has nothing for us to judge, and the check is left off its report.
Where most sites go wrong
The common case is a page built as a standalone campaign or app screen, with no menu and no route back into the site. The other is a blanket setting, applied by a plugin or a cautious policy, that marks every outbound link nofollow whatever it points to.
